El-Tarif (Arabic: إلطارف) is a necropolis on the West Bank at Thebes in Upper Egypt. It is considered part of the greater Theban Necropolis. The necropolis is located in the northwestern outskirts of the Theban Necropolis and southeast of the Valley of the Kings. It is the oldest of Theban necropolises, containing tombs of the late First Intermediate Period, early Middle Kingdom and Second Intermediate Period. Old Kingdom mastabas are possibly attributed to local rulers of the Fourth or Fifth Dynasty.
