Mendes (ancient Egyptian: ḏdt, modern: Tell el-Rub'a) is an Ancient Egyptian city in Lower Egypt, located in the western Nile Delta. It was the provincial capital of Hatmehit, the sixteenth nome of Lower Egypt. Just 500 meters to the south lies the ancient city of Thmouis.
