Oxyrhynchus (ancient Egyptian: pr-mḏd, modern: el-Bahnasa) is an Ancient Egyptian city on the west bank of the Nile, located in Upper Egypt. It was the capital city of Wabwy, the nineteenth nome of Upper Egypt.
