Shedsunefertem (transliteration: šd-sw-nfr-tm, "His Savior is Nefertem") was an ancient Egyptian high official of the Twenty-first Dynasty and Twenty-second Dynasty during the Third Intermediate Period. He served as the High Priest of Ptah under pharaoh Psusennes II and Shoshenq I.

Family[]

Shedsunefertem was the son of the High Priest of Ptah Ankhefensekhmet and the lady Tapesheniset, who was Chief of the Harem of Ptah and Prophetess of Mut. Shedsunefertem succeeded his father in office.[1]

Shedsunefertem had two wives. One of his wives was Mehytenweskhet, who was probably the daughter of the Great Chief of the Ma Nimlot and a sister of Pharaoh Shoshenq I.[1] Shedsunefertem's other wife was Princess Tentsepeh, who may have been a daughter of Siamun,[2] Psusennes II[1] or even Shoshenq I.

Shedsunefertem is known to have had two sons; Shoshenq, who succeeded him in office as High Priest of Ptah, and Ptahshepses. It remains unknown which of his two wives is their mother.

Burial[]

Given his priestly position at Memphis, Shedsunefertem was presumably buried at the city's necropolis at Saqqara.
