Ta-Wer (ancient Egypt tꜣ-wr, "Great Land") was the eighth nome of Upper Egypt. During the Early Dynastic Period, the nome's capital city was Thinis. However, for the most part of ancient Egyptian history Abydos functioned as Ta-Wer's provincial capital city.[1] Important cemeteries of the nome were found at Naga ed-Deir and Umm el-Qa'ab.
