Wab Priest or Pure Priest (ancient Egyptian: wꜥb) was an ancient Egyptian religious occupational title. The wab priests performed all necessary rituals and maintained the cult temple. However, only the High Priest was allowed into the temple's inner sanctuary. Members of the priesthood generally began at the lowest rank of wab priest and could promote to higher priestly ranks. Despite their low position, as priests, the wab priests were regarded highly in society.
