Xerxes I (Koine Greek: Ξερξης), Hellenized from Xašyāršā (Old Persian: 𐎧𐏁𐎹𐎠𐎼𐏁𐎠), and Kheshyresh (transliteration: ḫšyrš) in Ancient Egyptian, commonly known as Xerxes the Great, was the fifth King of Kings of the Achaemenid Persian Empire and fourth Pharaoh of the Twenty-seventh Dynasty during the Late Period of ancient Egypt.
